These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("you" or "user") and TalkTypeAI ("we", "us", "our") governing your access to and use of the TalkTypeAI desktop application and website (collectively, the "Service").
By downloading the application, creating an account, or using the Service in any way, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
TalkTypeAI is a Windows desktop application that converts speech to text using AI transcription. When you press and hold the configured hotkey and speak, your audio is sent to a third-party API (Groq's Whisper) for transcription, and the resulting text is typed into whichever application is currently active on your computer.
The Service requires an active internet connection to perform transcription. Transcription accuracy may vary based on your microphone quality, background noise, accent, and the language selected.
The application currently supports Windows 10 and Windows 11 only.
Some features of the Service require you to create an account. By creating an account, you agree to:
We use passwordless authentication (magic link). A login link is sent to your email address each time you sign in. Each link is single-use and expires after 10 minutes.
You must be at least 13 years of age to create an account. By creating an account, you represent that you meet this requirement.
TalkTypeAI offers the following plans:

The free tier resets your 2,000-word allowance at the start of each calendar month. When you reach the limit, transcription will be paused until the next reset or until you upgrade to a paid plan.
Prices are in US dollars. We reserve the right to change pricing with at least 30 days' notice to existing subscribers via email.
Payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. By subscribing to a paid plan, you authorize Stripe to charge your payment method on a recurring basis (monthly or annually, depending on your selected plan) until you cancel.
Recurring billing: Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period. You will be charged the then-current plan rate unless you cancel before the renewal date.
All payments are non-refundable except where required by applicable law. If you believe a charge was made in error, contact us at support@talktypeai.com within 14 days of the charge.
We never see or store your credit card number. All payment card data is handled directly by Stripe.
You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You retain access to Pro features until that date.
To cancel, contact support@talktypeai.com with your account email, or manage your subscription through the billing portal linked in the app.
We do not offer prorated refunds for partial billing periods.
You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You must not:
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms without prior notice.
Your transcriptions are yours. You own 100% of the text produced by transcribing your speech. TalkTypeAI claims no rights to the content you dictate.
The TalkTypeAI application, website, logo, brand name, and all associated software are owned by TalkTypeAI and protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any ownership interest in the Service.
You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the application on your Windows device for personal or professional use, subject to these Terms.

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

Transcription accuracy depends on factors outside our control, including microphone quality, ambient noise, accent, and the capabilities of the underlying AI model. You should always review transcriptions before using them in professional or critical contexts.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL TALKTYPEAI BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, BUSINESS, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE.
IN NO EVENT SHALL TALKTYPEAI'S TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM OR (B) $25.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain warranties or liabilities. In those jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless TalkTypeAI and its officers, employees, and agents from and against any claims, damages, obligations, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including attorney's fees) arising from: (a) your use of the Service; (b) your violation of these Terms; or (c) your violation of any third-party right.
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time by contacting support@talktypeai.com.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account immediately, without prior notice or liability, if:
Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law) will survive.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be resolved in the courts of competent jurisdiction in Delaware, and you consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts.
Before initiating any formal dispute process, we ask that you first contact us at support@talktypeai.com to try to resolve the issue informally. We will make a good faith effort to respond within 5 business days.
We may revise these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will notify you by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Your continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
If you do not agree to the revised Terms, you may cancel your account before the changes take effect.
Entire agreement. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and TalkTypeAI regarding the Service and supersede all prior agreements.
Severability. If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force.
No waiver. Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms will not constitute a waiver of that right or provision.
Assignment. You may not assign your rights or obligations under these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign our rights and obligations without restriction.
